It's hard to do Thanksgiving in France because the turkeys aren't ready yet. I tried one year to get a whole turkey, even went to the butcher several weeks in advance. They just couldn't manage it. We always get a turkey roll (you know the hunk of meat tied up in fat - what is that called?), which secretly pleases me, because I don't have to deal with the bird carcass after dinner.
That's a good point -- and a good excuse! I think the one time I did do it, though, I did manage to find a whole turkey, albeit a rather small one, in a supermarket.
