Mother's Day, or la Fête des Mères, was a few weeks back in France.
Wouldn't it be fun to have a family who plotted and actually cooked a special Mother's Day meal?
Or one that made secret reservations for some great restaurant?
Are any of you so lucky? I'm not, but I can't complain. My family always treats me to some nice gifts for Mother's Day, and the holiday is certainly never forgotten. But the food is up to me.
This year I really did it my way: yummy stuff with as little preparation and complicated cooking as possible.
A nice jar of foie gras:
Simple seared salmon:
I'm not a big dessert eater -- nor maker -- so a Mother's Day dessert with instructions limited to "Thaw in the refrigerator for three hours" was just dandy in my book.
A lovely meal indeed -- because I did it my way. Comme d'habitude.

foie gras... mmmmm! I'm not a mother (yet) but if I was, that would make my mother's day!
You've had a great M's day...all the things you love...and me too by the way!
So when is Fete de peres here in france, it is pretty soon now, no?

Nice one! And there's Fête des Pères to look forward to soon...
Mother's Day (and Father's Day) have been missed in my house since we moived... In early years I used to remind people, but decided there was no point. Birthday's are well remembered so I leave it at that.
As to your day - it looks perfect for me, too!
Je chante sous la pluie de notre belle Alsace et en chœur je te souhaite une belle semaine…avec le soleil si possible… et chez nous c'est la fête des pères aujourd'hui...à bientôt.
Thank you for your comments -- Father's Day was similar here, without the foie gras! A very busy weekend as it was also one daughter's birthday, there were several village fêtes to go to and another daughter was in a play!
Everybody have a great week too!
Ha ha ha Betty for your "my way" and "comme d'habitude" joke. Claude François and Frank Sinatra are laughing too, wherever they are.
I'm glad someone is laughing! I'm not sure everybody/anybody else picked it up!
I am sooo excited to have found your post. Thanks for all your sharing. I'm married to a frenchie from the south and I'm always in need of ideas.
Thanks again-
Nancy
Sounds like you made yourself an awesome meal! Good for you!
